Children's Health Foundation Crumlin
Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin is the new name for CMRF Crumlin – raising vital funds to support sick children and their families in Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin (formerly Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin) – from funding vital life-saving equipment and providing essential patient and parental supports to making ground-breaking, paediatric research possible.
Shaws have proudly partnered with Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin since 2019, raising vital, life-saving funds for sick children and their families through the dedication and support of our customers, staff members and suppliers.
When partnering with Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin, we originally aimed to raise €30,000 over two years for the sick children and their families who are cared for in CHI at Crumlin.
Not long after the charity partnership began, the Covid-19 pandemic saw all Shaws’ stores closed for 20 weeks in 2020, which had a severe effect on the ability of the Shaws team members to raise funds for our chosen cause. Once the worst of the lockdown was over, Shaws generously decided to extend their partnership with Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin to counteract the time their stores had spent closed.
Since then, Shaws staff across the county have kicked their fundraising initiatives into high-gear, holding numerous staff-led charity events including bakes sales, head shaves, hair-waxing, fitness challenges, tea & coffee mornings, Christmas jumper days, creating Shaws charity calendars, assault courses and even abseiling 150 feet from the top of Croke Park’s iconic Hogan Stand.
We are proud to say that we have smashed our €30,000 target in that time and raised over €100,000 to support the sick children and families in CHI at Crumlin. This milestone could not have been reached without the steadfast support, generosity and kindness of our incredible customers.
Our charity activity for 2022 began in February with our incredible team of store staff and amazing customers supporting Children’s Health Foundation’s Love Letters campaign, writing messages of thanks, hope, and inspiration to patients, doctors, nurses and front-line workers in CHI at Crumlin.
In March, we uncovered some extremely talented bakers among our team as we supported the Great Irish Bake across all of our stores nationwide. This caused quite a stir, raising over €9,000 for our charity partners.
Our more adventurous colleagues have been taking part in Children’s Health Foundation’s Dare to be Brave adventure series. This series challenges our staff to break out of their comfort-zones and take on one or more exhilarating Dare to be Brave challenges throughout the summer – all to raise funds for Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin. Our staff have taken on challenges such as assault courses, abseils and skydives!
Here at Shaws we are extremely proud of our team for their effort, enthusiasm and engagement throughout all of the events, campaigns and initiatives that we host throughout the year in support of Children’s Health Foundation. From our office staff to our warehouse crew, our store team members and our senior management we are all fully committed to continuing to support Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin, and we’re not done yet.
This Christmas, our customers will be able to purchase Don Brigg’s new children’s book “The Lion, The Witch and The Dry Robe” in aid of Children’s Health Foundation; available exclusively at Shaws.
