Since then, we’ve grown into 16 locations across Ireland, becoming a trusted name for quality, value, and service. Our History: Rooted in Tradition, Evolving with Time
It all started in 1864 with a small shop in Mountmellick. Over the years, under the guidance of Henry Shaw and his family, Shaws has grown and expanded across the Midlands and beyond. By the 20th century, we had stores in Athy, Waterford, and Carlow, and our beloved slogan “Shaws Almost Nationwide” was born. Fast forward to today, and Shaws has 16 stores across Ireland, with our latest addition opening in Athlone in 2024. Through the decades, we’ve stayed true to our roots, remaining a family-run business with many members of the Shaw family still involved. Our range of products has grown too—you’ll find everything from Womenswear and Footwear to Jewellery and Home Solutions.
